Mag­a­zino receives “Best Prod­uct” award at Logi­MAT trade fair

Logi­MAT 2018 | At Logi­MAT 2018, robot­ics startup Mag­a­zino will present the newly devel­oped SOTO robot to the pub­lic for the first time. Using 3D cam­era tech­nol­ogy, the fully autonomous robot can grab objects such as car­tons from a con­veyor line, store them on the vehi­cle, nav­i­gate to their des­ti­na­tion and pre­cisely place the car­tons in shelv­ing racks. This makes SOTO the world’s first per­cep­tion-con­trolled robot to com­bine this spec­trum of capa­bil­i­ties in a sin­gle solu­tion. The intel­li­gent robot is pri­mar­ily used in dis­tri­b­u­tion cen­ters for fash­ion logis­tics. A fur­ther field of appli­ca­tion is the sup­ply of small load car­ri­ers in pro­duc­tion logis­tics. SOTO can be seen at the exhi­bi­tion stand of Mag­a­zino GmbH in hall 5, stand D55.

The ben­e­fit for the cus­tomer: Many man­ual work processes that were pre­vi­ously too com­plex can now be auto­mated flex­i­bly and scal­ably for the first time. This results in extended oper­at­ing times, a smooth­ing of order peaks and a reduc­tion of oper­at­ing and process costs. Above all, how­ever, SOTO relieves the strain on employ­ees in the case of ergonom­i­cally unfavourable tasks. Sort­ing car­tons full of tex­tiles weigh­ing 15 kilo­grams into shelv­ing racks — a stren­u­ous task in the long run, espe­cially when it comes to the low­est or top shelf level. This is no prob­lem for the robot even in con­tin­u­ous operation.
