Hanover 6 February 2018 | Magazino presented the newly developed robot SOTO to around 200 journalists from all over the world at the preview event for CeMAT and Hannover Messe. In addition to the partner country Mexico, the important trends and developments in the industry were also presented at a press conference. SOTO was placed on stage as an example of the rapid development of intelligent robots.
Following the press conference, Lukas Zanger (COO & co-founder of Magazino) explained the special features and functions of the perception-controlled transport robot to the chairman of Deutsche Messe, Dr. Jochen Köckler, and the audience. SOTO uses a 3D camera and numerous sensors and laser scanners to perceive its environment. It can identify and locate objects up to a size of 600 x 400 x 400 millimeters completely autonomously, grip them from different heights, store them on the device, transport them to their destination and place them there again. This makes SOTO one of the world’s first robots to combine this spectrum of capabilities in a single system. On stage, SOTO demonstrated how it can pick up objects from a roller conveyor with its adaptive gripper and store them temporarily in its storage space for transport.
The robot will first be presented to the broad professional audience at the LogiMAT logistics trade fair in Stuttgart in mid-March — in April, of course, at the CeMAT trade fair in Hanover.
