March 11, 2019, Munich The German robotics startup Magazino exhibits for the first time their mobile picking robot TORU at the ProMAT show in Chicago (booth S2897, April 8–11, 2019). TORU is the first market proven solution, that can not only transport, but also store and retrieve individual items in shelf racks completely flexible and autonomous. It works alongside human co-workers, uses free navigation and is specialized on picking and replenishing shoe boxes on heights from 3in (8cm) till 8ft 2in (2,5m) above ground.

Frederik Brantner, Co-Founder and CEO of Magazino highlights: “We are proud to present our robot TORU for the first time at the most important logistics event in North America. The US market shows great potential and we are ready to revolutionize warehouse automation with this new generation of intelligent robots. We are looking for a first partner in the US for a pilot project in 2020.”

The robot TORU is already in live operation at several shoe warehouses in
Europe. Magazino’s customers benefit from a scalable and self-learning solution. The robots are:

Economical
TORU handles small batch sizes and returns with ease: it works autonomously and efficiently up to 18 hours a day. This means that it can be active outside regular shift times and help smooth peaks, for example, through preparatory work.

Simple
TORU integrates easily into existing warehouses and processes. Once configured, it works autonomously alongside its human colleagues. Using regular WiFi, it connects seamlessly to the warehouse management system to receive picking orders.

Intelligent
Through sensors, cameras and the intelligent operating system ACROS, TORU can perceive its environment, react independently to changes and even learn from experience.
